Sophie Matthew

Based in London, Sophie Matthew is a British stage performer. She has had experience in professional singing, dancing and acting. Her specific skills apart from acting include jazz and tap dancing and vocal prowess as a mezzo-soprano. Currently, she is playing 1st cover Sophie/Lisa in Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre.

 

Training:

Sophie received her training at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (2013 – 2016).

Theatre:

Her credits on the stage include Carmen in Cathy Hudson's Fast Film Noir – TheSpace@Venue45 (Edinburgh Fringe) at the Braindead Theatre (2013); the lead role of Sarah in James Tobias, Dustin Conrad and Fabian Aloise's Our House in its UK tour (Immersion Theatre & Damien Tracey Productions, 2017); the lead role of Barbara Winters in Rob Wicks and Racky Plews' Summer Holiday (Spirit Productions, 2018); Sister Sophia in Brady Mould, Stuart Winter and Grant Murphy's The Sound Of Music (Louder Than Words, 2019).

During her training at Mountview Academy dance captain and Ruth Sherwood in Anna Walker, David Randall, Jeremy Lloyd Thomas' Wonderful Town (2014); Kate in Gary Lilburn Dancing At Lughnasa (2015); Hermia in Eve Matheson's A Midsummer Night's Dream (2015); Amelia Earhart in Steven Harris, Nigel Lilley and Matt Ryan's First Lady Suite (2015).

Concert:

She was a singer in Jon Ranger's Magic Of The Musical (Magic Radio & TBI Media, 2016).

TV:

In 2016, Sophie appeared as Ginny in Carl Tibbetts' Humans (Series II).

Workshops:

Her workshop participation involves Kensuke's Kingdom (Old Vic Rehearsals Rooms), 2017; featured role in Lotte Wakeham, Howard Goodall & Jon Canter's New (Unnamed) Musical, 2018.
