Scarlett Strallen on stage at Menier Chocolate Factory revive the classic musical She Loves Me this autumn!

She Loves Me, originally by Joe Masteroff, Sheldon Harnick, and Jerry Bock and premiering in 1963, the musical will be directed by Matthew White and will star Scarlett Strallen in the role of Amalia Balash, who have previously worked together on the Menier's revival of Candide in 2014.

Based on the play Parfumerie by Hungarian playwright Miklós László, which also inspired the films The Shop around the Corner and You've Got Mail, She Loves Me features a score by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, the collaborators behind Fiddler on the Roof, and has been revived multiple times on Broadway and was last seen in the West End at the Savoy Theatre in 1995.

This is a brand new London production staged by Joe Masteroff. Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s musical will begin preview performances 25th November prior to official opening 7th December until March 2017.

The score features a string of musical theatre standards including "Vanilla Ice Cream", "A Trip to the Library", "Ilona", "Will He Like Me?", "Dear Friend" and the title song, "She Loves Me".

Meet Amalia and Georg, who work as clerks in Maraczek's Parfumerie -- and aren't exactly the best of friends. However, they have something in common. They both rapturously write to romantic pen pals. Despite the anonymity of their secret admirers, they live for the love letters that they exchange and the day they will finally meet.

Scarlett Strallen has rose into prominence playing Mary Poppins in the Prince Edward Theatre production opposite to Gavin Lee as Bert. She repeated the role in Broadway and again in Sydney production of the musical and was nominated for the Best Takeover Role Award at the Theatregoers' Choice Awards 2006. Strallen originated the roles of Kathy Selden in Singing in the Rain (Palace Theatre) and Cassie in A Chorus Line (London Palladium). Her recent U.S. theatre credits include The Pirates of Penzance (Barrington Stage Company), A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (Broadway's Walter Kerr Theater) and Macbeth (Park Avenue Armory, opposite Kenneth Branagh).

Shows goes on sale on Wednesday 14th September 2016 so do not miss out!
