Remaining time:

Mark Rylance to perform Pinter's 'Art, Truth and Politics' for Harold Pinter Season

The Jamie Lloyd Company, who together with Pinter's wife Lady Antonia Fraser put together a full-fledged Harold Pinter season, has just announced that Mark Rylance will be performing Pinter's Nobel Lecture, Art, Truth and Politics for two special charity events as part of the Pinter at the Pinter season. The lecture was originally performed by Pinter himself back in 2005 upon receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature that same year. Rylance's performance will be in support of the Stop the War Coalition.

Mark Rylance's two performances of Harold Pinter's Art, Truth and Politics will take place on two separate nights at 6pm on the 2nd and 4th of October 2018 at the Harold Pinter Theatre, right before each scheduled performance. The quadruple bill, Pinter 1: One For the Road / The New World Order / Mountain Language / Ashes to Ashes, which is directed by both Jamie Lloyd and Lia Williams, is scheduled for the 2nd of October while the double bill, Pinter 2: The Lover / The Collection, is scheduled for the 4th of October.

£10 from every ticket sold for these two performances will be donated to the Stop the War charity.

Mark Rylance is an English playwright, actor and theatre director. He is perhaps best known for being the first ever artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe from 1995 to 2005. The theatre officially 'reopened' in 1997 and is an academic approximation of what it looked like before it was destroyed by fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614 and then demolished in 1644. Rylance's notable stage credits include Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, and Macbeth.

Stop the War is a charity organisation that formed in 2001 in opposition of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since its founding, it has endeavoured to oppose and protest against attacks on Syria and Libya and played a large role in the recent protests in London against Donald Trump. With Trump's erratic behaviour and unpredictable moves on the global stage, Stop the War believes that a strong anti-war voice is needed now more than ever. Harold Pinter was one of the coalition's earliest supporters and the charity has helped to forge an anti-war majority in the UK.

Be a part of the movement and support a good cause by booking tickets to these fantastic Pinter plays on the 2nd and 4th of October! Entry to Mark Rylance's performance of Art, Truth and Politics at 6pm is free when you show a valid ticket to the corresponding Pinter performance for either of those nights.

The Pinter at the Pinter is a 25-week season running at the Harold Pinter Theatre that will feature some of Pinter’s best works. It’s the first season of its kind to be dedicated to the playwright and features some of the greatest pieces from his oeuvre.
