Aaron Sorkin’s award-winning stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird returns to London’s West End this summer, playing at Wyndham’s Theatre from 25 June to 12 September 2026. Richard Coyle reprises the role of Atticus Finch following the UK tour and his previous West End run. Tickets go on sale Friday 20 February at midday.
What is To Kill a Mockingbird about?
Set in 1934 Alabama during the Great Depression, To Kill a Mockingbird follows small-town lawyer Atticus Finch as he defends Tom Robinson, a Black man falsely accused of assault. As prejudice grips the community, Atticus attempts to uphold justice and moral integrity, while his children Scout and Jem witness the complexities of racism, empathy and courage. Through a child’s perspective, the story explores innocence confronted by injustice — and the cost of standing up for what is right.
About Harper Lee and the novel
Harper Lee published To Kill a Mockingbird in 1960. Inspired by her childhood in Alabama, the novel drew on her observations of racial inequality in the American South. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961 and has since sold more than 45 million copies worldwide. Frequently studied in schools and often challenged or banned, it remains one of the most influential American novels of the 20th century.
