What’s closing in London Theatre in September 2018

While it is sad to see many spectacular shows announce their final curtain call, the bright side is that it is always a good thing to see more shows opening than closing because it means an all-new season is on the horizon. With that being said, there is still time left to catch the following theatrical gems before they 'exit stage left' this month. The Lieutenant of Inishmore (8 September)
Featuring The Hobbit actor Aidan Turner in his West End stage debut, this dark comedy written by Oscar-winning playwright Martin McDonagh follows terrorist Mad Padraic (Turner) as he receives a call while in Belfast that his beloved cat, Wee Thomas, is not doing so well. But little does he know just how terrible Wee Thomas is! This West End revival is directed by multi-award-winning MGC Artistic Director Michael Grandage (Red, King Lear, Caligula) and now is your last chance to see this tale of 'felinicide' play out stage in London's West End!

The Tiger Who Came To Tea (9 September)
The Tiger Who Came to Tea tells the tale of Sophie and her mum, who are just about to have a cup of tea when their doorbell rings. They are surprised to find that lurking behind the front door is a large tiger, who promptly waltzes in and sits down at their table. Things get a bit out of control, however, as the tiger in the room begins eating them out of their own home and drinking their tap water from every faucet. This comedic play is based on Judith Kerr’s best-selling picture book of the same name and adapted for the stage by David Wood, who is indisputably the country’s leading writer and director for children’s plays. Your child will be captivated throughout the entire duration of the show and will surely enjoy the catchy sing-along songs and bright, stimulating colours.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea is now playing at the Piccadilly Theatre and closes on 9 September 2018. Treat you and your children to an inexpensive option for entertainment!

The King and I (29 September)
In this unique tale of East meets West, the King of Siam summons Welsh widow Anna Leonowens to teach his children the ways of the Western world in a bid to modernise the country and change the image of the royal Siamese family. Despite both sides being deeply rooted in their own traditions, an unusual and tumultuous relationship develops where they are forced to overcome their many cultural differences.
