What is The Magic Flute about?

In a kingdom of monsters, temples and enchantments, Prince Tamino must rescue the princess Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night. What seems like a simple mission, no challenge to a prince, he must face a series of trials to attain enlightenment…

Featuring the iconic Queen of the Night aria, the music of The Magic Flute is sure to leave no heart uncharmed, and with a striking and enchanting staging.

The History of The Magic Flute

The Magic Flute was Mozart’s final opera before he died at the age of 35 on 5 December, 1791. The premiere, just two months before his death, in the humble Vienna Theater auf der Wieden was a huge success. Mozart personally conducted the orchestra for the opening night. He intended the piece for everyday, working-class audiences rather than his usual crowd of wealthy aristocrats.
