Cruel Intentions In London
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the hit film Cruel Intentions starring Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair (and inspired by the 1782 French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses), Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical is a wild jukebox throwback laced with a soundtrack of some of the greatest ‘90s pop classics of all time: including The Verve ‘Bittersweet Symphony’, R.E.M. ‘Losing My Religion’, Natalie Imbruglia ‘Torn’, Ace of Base ‘I Saw the Sign’, Christina Aguilera ‘Genie in a Bottle’, TLC ‘No Scrubs’, Boyz II Men ‘I’ll Make Love to You’, *NSYNC ‘Bye Bye Bye’, Britney Spears ’Sometimes’ and many more.
Cruel Intentions initially premiered as Cruel Intentions: The Musical and following successful performances in Los Angeles and New York, it made its Off-Broadway debut at Le Poisson Rouge, a Greenwich Village nightclub, in November 2017. Originally intended for a ten-week run, the show's popularity led to three extensions, ultimately running through April 2018. In 2019, the production embarked on its first U.S. tour and also participated in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2022, it had its inaugural Australian tour, and it is now set to make its West End debut.

One of the best shows I have seen this year! The acting and singing was AMAZING!! I knew it would be good, but I hadn't expected to be blown away as much as I was. It has been put together very well with the words from the movie used and music perfectly matched for certain moments. I was dancing in my seat and busting to watch the movie again. And I could hear everyone around me saying similar things. You will not be disappointed by this awesome performance!
Great show
Absolutely brilliant!! Great cast, great theatre, great songs and very nostalgic. They need to extend it until end of year.
Fantastic performance from all. We saw Verity play the lead, we didn’t realise she wasn’t the normal lead until after. She was amazing, an incredible voice and talent! Lots of fun for all to watch.
Fantastic show, the cast were all amazing. Highly recommend
Amazing show, Amazing cast & love the theatre, really felt part of the show being so close to the stage. Well done everyone!
Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical" is an absolute delight from start to finish! As a fan of the classic '90s movie, I was thrilled to experience this musical adaptation, and it did not disappoint. What I enjoyed the most about the musical was its perfect balance of humor, entertainment, and nostalgia. The witty dialogue, catchy musical numbers, and clever references to the original film brought back fond memories of '90s movies classics. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the show, thoroughly entertained by the talented cast and their infectious energy. The performance was a fantastic trip down memory lane, filled with all the iconic moments and characters that I love. I wholeheartedly recommend "Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical" to anyone looking for a fun and memorable theater experience. Plus, the cozy atmosphere of the theater only added to the charm of the evening. It's a must-see for fans of the film and anyone craving a nostalgic journey back to the '90s.
Was a very, very good show. Profess and well supported by other professionals. Would recommend both show and theatre itself. I shall be returning for more in the future.
The band were really excellent.
Strong performances
Fun night out with freinds! Talented cast.
“Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical”, is a musical that does not need to exist. I hadn’t anticipated how random and disjointed the tracks would be, and despite a couple of fantastic voices, and a smattering of incredibly funny moments, there was an excess of overacting that tipped it from a darkly camp comedy, into an OTT parody. Give it a miss.

Will Cruel Intentions slither into the West End or remain an item on your #WestEndWishList?
Nostalgia therapy is no doubt all the rage these days. You saw it on stage with last year's Heathers and you'll see it again this year with the new Max Martin musical, & Juliet, a fancy jukebox production packed with all your favourite retro hits from the past two decades. You see it on TV, like in Black Mirror's 'San Junipero' episode. You hear it in music: think Charli XCX and her recent jam with Troye Sivan, '1999', in which she sings "I just wanna go back, sing, "Hit me, baby, one more time."."
Well now fans of the decade that brought bubblegum pop and angsty alt-rock to the forefront can get just the blast to the past they've been looking for with Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical. The provocative show based on the award-winning film of the same name first premiered in Los Angeles before later transferring to the Poisson Rouge Nightclub Off-Broadway in 2017. It is now set to head to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August for its long-awaited UK premiere. If all goes well for the production next month, there's a high chance West End audiences may see it grace the London stage in 2020.
